What you’ll learn:
How to use speculative thinking as a method for innovation
How to turn abstract thinking into first-stage prototypes
Why creativity is not a talent, but a process anyone can learn
How to come up with future ideas that solve real problems
What we’ll do:
This workshop shows that the real challenge is not the material or idea itself, but how you approach it. Led by Laila Snevele, who believes anyone can learn to innovate, you will create your first prototype in just 4 hours. Take this powerful design tool back to your company and bring new, creative energy to your team’s innovation process! Throughout the workshop, we will delve into the concept of speculative design, understanding its potential to inspire groundbreaking future solutions that might otherwise be difficult to envision. To start, we’ll focus on the leek, a humble yet versatile vegetable, using its properties to guide and inspire our creative thinking.
Learning by doing!
We will engage in material exploration, examining the unique properties of leek and applying them to various themes. We connect the workshop themes to your company goals, values, or field of work. This hands-on activity will stimulate the imagination and lead us to speculate on future scenarios inspired by this everyday object.
From experiment to first prototype in 4 hours In the final phase, we will collaboratively ideate a new project, combining our insights and creativity to develop innovative models. These first idea prototypes will be presented in a group session, fostering an environment of mutual learning and idea exchange. To enrich our presentations and add a sensory dimension, we will incorporate storytelling with food. Using leek waste from our samples, we will prepare a soup together, which will not only be part of our final presentation but also allow us to taste our ideas, creating a multi-sensory experience.
