THE PERFECT EGG

Project “The perfect egg” was inspired from a good friend of mine who is allergic to eggs. Depending on the amounts consumed, eggs create skin rash, itch in the throat and stomach ache, so eggs are something to stay away from but at the same time it’s something to look for the most- meaning food labels. So I made The perfect egg for her to capture her emotions, feelings and questions. The relationship with the sunny side up. It looks and smells like an egg, but it’s made from vegetables and is fully allergy safe and edible.

The video shows her relationship with an image, memory, knowledge and reality. How an “egg” on a plate becomes a field of research. Situation when food doesn’t meet your expectations and the attention to a detail. How brain is putting together information of whats expected and known to defining facts from scratch and creating new- safe image of a food. This, as a more sensitive situation makes me question, How much do we know about our food? How did food companies gain so much trust from us and How come we put our natural sense of detecting what’s good or bad in the hands of someone else?
